Universal Peace Federation Summit, Congratulatory Address by H.E. President Macky Sall to the Laureates of the Sunhak Peace Prize

Seoul, 11 Avril 2025

Dear brother Goodluck Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Dear friend Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations,
Honorable Mother Moon,
Dr. Charles Yang, President of the Universal Peace Federation,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am pleased to speak on the occasion of this Sunhak Peace Prize Award Ceremony. It is both an honor and a duty of gratitude and testimony.

As the laureate of the 4th edition of the Prize, my responsibilities at the time did not allow me to attend the ceremony. I therefore felt it necessary to be here with you for this summit.

I pay tribute to the memory of Reverend Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Universal Peace Federation, and I honor Mother Moon, who continues with such generosity and conviction the ideal of peace and human fraternity championed by the UPF.

I also acknowledge and thank the members of the organizing committee for their dedication to the UPF.

In a world exhausted by war, violence in all its forms, climate crisis, and persistent inequalities, working toward the realization of the ideal of peace and human fraternity is an act of faith—an act of goodwill, courage, and patience.

This is what the 2025 Sunhak Peace Prize laureates have demonstrated. Congratulations to you, Mr. Patrick Awuah and Ms. Wanjira Mathai, as well as to the recipients of the Founder’s Special Prize, my brother President Goodluck Jonathan and His Eminence Samuel Radebe.

I also extend my congratulations to our friend Ban Ki-moon, former recipient of the Founder’s Special Prize.

Dear friends,

In these difficult times, honoring those who strive for peace, development and human dignity is more than a symbolic act ; it is a moral imperative. That is the very reason we stand together here today.

This Prize is a recognition of the achievement of the laureates. It is also an encouragement for all of us to continue the work, because the quest for the ideal of peace and human fraternity requires a renewed commitment every day. Together we will succeed.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Cher frère Goodluck Jonathan, ancien Président de la République Fédérale du Nigéria,

Cher ami Ban ki Moon, ancien Secrétaire général des Nations unies,

Honorable mother Moon,

Dr Charles Yang, Président de la Fédération pour la Paix Universelle,

Mesdames, Messieurs,
